Bottom Line Up Front

Out of all the IWB holsters we reviewed, We The People’s Custom Taurus G3C IWB holster had the best value for money, without compromising on quality. It is a beautiful, comfortable kydex holster that is easy to wear and conceal. A simple, no-frills holster you just can’t go wrong with – a great pick for anyone looking to get into concealed carry.

Features & The Nitty-Gritty

Holster Type: IWBCarry Type: Concealed Carry

Retention Type: Active Click RetentionHolster Adjustability: Ride, Cant, Retention
Light/Laser Compatible: YesRed Dot/Optics Compatible: Yes
Made In: ✅ AmericaSafety: ✅ Trigger & Barrel Protected
Hand Orientation: ✅ Left & Right HandedWarranty: ✅ Lifetime

Looks, Feel & Durability: 5/5

The We The People IWB holster looks good and feels tough, built to last. It has a matte finish and is made from sturdy 0.08″ kydex that doesn’t bend. The durable plastic clip and solid hardware add to its durability. The holster can accommodate threaded barrels and suppressor-level sights, and offers various optics and laser cuts for different guns, including the Taurus G3C. Additionally, We The People offers a range of interesting colors and prints to suit everyone’s preferences.

Comfort: 4.5/5

You can wear this holster for hours without even noticing it’s there. It’s designed with no sharp edges or corners, providing a comfortable experience. The open muzzle end doesn’t cause any discomfort or irritation. The ride height and angle are adjustable, although I found them comfortable right out of the box without any need for adjustments.

Retention: 5/5

The retention of this holster is excellent. It passed our retention test, ensuring that your G3C stays securely in place even when the holster is turned upside down. The positive click retention provides a satisfying and secure fit every time you holster your gun. The retention is also easily adjustable with a tension screw to suit your preference.

Safety & Protection: 5/5

When holstered, both the trigger and barrel of your Taurus G3C are fully covered, preventing any accidental manipulation. The rigid kydex material provides reliable protection against bumps, dirt, and drops. The full sweat guard on the inner side protects your gun from sweat corrosion and your waist from the gun’s rough edges. The strong belt clip ensures that the holster remains securely attached to your belt.

Ease Of Concealment: 5/5

Concealing this holster with jeans and a flannel shirt was easy. It doesn’t protrude and keeps the Taurus G3C snug against your body, effectively smoothing out any sharp edges. The holster’s low position allows the gun’s handle to be flush with your body, ensuring a discreet appearance. If you prefer appendix carry, I recommend adding their optional claw for enhanced concealment.

Ease Of Draw: 5/5

Drawing your Taurus G3C from this holster is smooth and quick. You can easily establish a proper grip for a ready-to-shoot position from any angle. Speed draws in under 2 seconds are easily achievable. The retention doesn’t hinder the draw, and the adjustable ride height and cant provide flexibility to find the perfect draw position.

Warranty & Returns: 5/5

All We The People holsters come with a lifetime warranty and have a one-year return policy for a refund from the day the order was placed.

Keep In Mind

  • While the We The People IWB holster is comfortable for a full kydex design, it may not be as soft against the body as the leather-backed Independence and Hidden Hybrid models reviewed below.
  • The range of available optics cuts and modifications is limited. If you have a more unique modification on your Taurus G3C, consider the Hidden Hybrid holsters, although they come at a higher cost.

Bottom Line Up Front

Hidden Hybrid’s Single Clip is the most comfortable Taurus G3C holster on our list. It’s one of the best hybrid holsters on the market. A solid choice if you’re looking for something more comfortable than a full Kydex holster, and don’t mind the slight increase in overall holster weight & size (as well as the premium pricing).

Features & The Nitty-Gritty

Holster Type: IWBCarry Type: Concealed Carry
Holster Material: Kydex & LeatherHolster Fit: Custom Fit
Retention Type: Passive RetentionHolster Adjustability: Ride, Cant, Retention
Light/Laser Compatible: YesRed Dot/Optics Compatible: Yes
Made In: ✅ AmericaSafety: ✅ Trigger & Barrel Protected
Hand Orientation: ✅ Left & Right HandedWarranty: ✅ Lifetime

Looks, Feel & Durability: 5/5

The HH Single Clip is a hybrid IWB holster – your gun is wedged between a Kydex shell and a thick Amish leather backer. The kydex shell is molded after your Taurus G3C for better retention and protection. The leather backer is soft, contouring to your body over time, providing better comfort compared to pure Kydex models.

Among all the hybrid holsters I’ve tried, this one is my favorite. The Amish leather is thick and soft, with suede on the back. It’s thin enough to fit my body shape but thick enough to withstand daily wear without stretching.

They used 0.093″ kydex, slightly thicker than the usual 0.08″ kydex, for added durability. The holster also accommodates threaded barrels and suppressor-level sights. Hidden Hybrid is one of the few brands that offers holsters for any gun, along with laser, light, and optic combinations.

Comfort: 5/5

Can you wear it for hours and forget it’s there? Absolutely. After the leather shaped up in the first couple of weeks, you’ll notice the added comfort vs full-Kydex, especially when sitting for long periods. Hidden Hybrid excels in terms of comfort with its soft and contoured padding that doesn’t dig into your body.

Retention: 5/5

Can you turn the holster upside down without the gun falling out? Yes, it passes the retention test. The retention is tight, ensuring there’s no shaking or rattling with my Taurus G3C. Initially, the retention was a bit tight, but it loosened up as the leather broke in while remaining at a comfortable level. The retention adjustment works well if you prefer a tighter or looser fit.

Safety & Protection: 5/5

The holster fully covers both the trigger and barrel, preventing any access to the trigger when holstered. The leather also acts as a sweat guard, protecting the gun from corrosion. It offers excellent protection against bumps and scratches, keeping your firearm well-protected. The clip is well-designed, tight, and difficult to remove from your belt, even during intense situations.

Unlike cheaper hybrid holsters, Hidden Hybrid’s Single Clip ensures safe and rapid one-handed reholstering. The leather backer cannot fold inside the holster shell, eliminating any risk of compromising the trigger. The thick and rounded leather lacks sharp edges, minimizing the chance of it getting stuck.

Ease Of Concealment: 4.5/5

I found the holster easy to conceal, even with jeans and a plaid flannel shirt. Despite the extra layer of leather, it has a slim profile that blends well with your clothing. The height is just right, avoiding any grip printing. If you prefer deeper appendix carry concealment, I highly recommend the optional claw kit, which is also affordable.

Ease Of Draw: 5/5

The leather is skillfully cut around the handle, allowing for a proper and ready-to-shoot grip from any position. Drawing in under two seconds is effortless. Both the cant and height are adjustable, providing flexibility to suit individual preferences. The retention does not hinder the draw.

Warranty & Returns: 5/5

All Hidden Hybrid Holsters come with a lifetime warranty. They also have a 30-Day “One Question Return Policy” where you only have to answer how they could have done better.

Keep In Mind

Hidden Hybrid holsters are pricier than most, but the quality justifies the cost. Keep in mind that modifications come with an additional expense, such as a laser/light cut for $10 or red dot optics for $30. Ordering holsters with modifications may require extra production time.

Bottom Line Up Front

In our opinion, WTP Independence is the best commercially-available full leather holster you can buy at this moment. It is a newer product and the only full-leather holster that made it to our Taurus G3C holster picks list. Its adjustability, build quality, and attention to detail make it stand out compared to the other leather holsters.

Features & The Nitty-Gritty

Holster Type: IWBCarry Type: Concealed Carry
Holster Material: LeatherHolster Fit: Custom Fit
Retention Type: Passive RetentionHolster Adjustability: Ride, Cant
Light/Laser Compatible:Red Dot/Optics Compatible:
Made In: ✅ AmericaSafety: ✅ Trigger & Barrel Protected
Hand Orientation: ✅ Left & Right HandedWarranty: ✅ Lifetime

Looks, Feel & Durability: 5/5

The holster is solidly made with thick, durable leather. The adjustable clips are sturdy and don’t easily bend. The contouring perfectly matches the shape of my Taurus G3C, and the stitching is done to last for years. It comes in brown and black leather, featuring the WTP logo.

Comfort: 5/5

After about 2 weeks, the leather fully conformed to my body, providing exceptional comfort. It’s on par with hybrid holsters and slightly surpasses full kydex models. The leather feels soft against my body and effectively reduces the sharp edges of my Taurus G3C. Notably, this is the only leather holster on the market that allows you to adjust the ride and cant.

Retention: 4.5/5

I can confidently turn the holster upside down without worrying about my Taurus G3C falling out. It’s not common for leather holsters to offer such reliable retention. The fit is snug and perfect for my Taurus G3C. Just keep in mind that the retention is intentionally tight at first and will loosen up with wear.

Safety & Protection: 4.5/5

When holstered, the trigger, safety mechanism, and barrel are fully covered, ensuring excellent protection. The clips are robust and securely hold the holster in place, making it challenging to dislodge during intense situations. The holster features grain-side leather both inside and outside, protecting the gun from wear and tear, unlike rough suede leather commonly used in other leather and hybrid holsters.

Ease Of Concealment: 4.5/5

Whether I carry my Taurus G3C on the side or in the appendix position, it remains discreet without printing or protruding under jeans and a plaid flannel shirt. The holster has a compact footprint, facilitating easy concealment (though slightly thicker than kydex). It’s worth noting that a holster claw is not available for this particular model.

Ease Of Draw: 5/5

Drawing my Taurus G3C is a breeze, and I can establish a secure grip for a ready-to-shoot position without any issues. Once the leather has broken in, I consistently achieve sub-2-second draws. The ride height is satisfactory, but adjustments can be made using the clips for personalized comfort.

Warranty & Customization Support: 5/5

We The People offers a lifetime warranty, and a one-year return policy for a refund from the day the order was placed. The holster works with threaded barrels & suppressor level sights.

Keep In Mind

There are currently no options available for optics or laser cuts. Also, full leather holsters have their drawbacks, making them less ideal for beginners. These downsides include lack of waterproofing, maintenance requirements for leather care, absence of audible click retention, difficulties in finding optics/Streamlight/laser cuts, and a slightly higher price point. However, if you specifically desire a full leather holster for your Taurus G3C, it will be challenging to find one better than this.

  • No light/laser support

Bottom Line Up Front

Alien Gear Shapeshift is the right system for you if you want versatility, and/or are interested in trying different carry styles to see what works best for your Taurus G3C. The ShapeShift works as:

  1. An IWB holster
  2. An AIWB holster
  3. An OWB paddle holster
  4. And an OWB belt slide holster

Alien Gear also sells different expansion packs for this system that allow you to turn it into a drop-leg/thigh holster, ankle holster, and more.

Features & The Nitty-Gritty

Holster Type: IWB/OWBCarry Type: Concealed & Open Carry

Retention Type: Active ClickHolster Adjustability: Ride, Cant, Retention
Light/Laser Compatible:Red Dot/Optics Compatible:

Looks, Feel & Durability: 5/5

So, it’s a holster kit that allows you to build your IWB or OWB holsters. When you first open the box, the ShapeShift system might seem a bit overwhelming with all the parts and screws. But once you get the hang of it, adjusting between different carry styles becomes easy and intuitive. Plus, it doesn’t take much time.

The ShapeShift system feels more durable than typical kydex holsters because it’s made from injection-molded polymer. Polymer is tougher to make than Kydex, but it’s also more durable and less prone to bending or breaking.

I’ve tried it in both IWB and OWB configurations, and everything functions as expected. The instructions and usability are well done. You can watch the video below for more details.

Comfort: 4.5/5

As a hybrid holster, it’s softer to wear compared to full kydex models. Instead of leather, they use their own neoprene fabric for the backer. The fabric is soft, pliable, and doesn’t require a long break-in period like leather. So the holster is ready to use right out of the box.

Retention: 5/5

The retention is good and passes the upside-down test. The holster shell is made of sturdy polymer and custom-shaped for your specific Taurus G3C model. Additionally, the kit includes an ergonomic thumb release that allows for active retention in the OWB mode, ensuring your Taurus G3C is secure and inaccessible to others.

Safety & Protection: 5/5

Both the trigger and barrel are fully covered when the gun is holstered, providing adequate protection. The polymer material is also durable enough to shield the gun from bumps and drops.

Ease Of Concealment: 4/5

Due to the neoprene material, the holster has a slightly larger footprint compared to minimalist kydex holsters. However, it’s still relatively easy to conceal in the IWB configuration. With jeans and a flannel shirt, the holster doesn’t print, but I deducted a point here due to its slightly larger size.

Ease Of Draw: 5/5

In all carry configurations, my Taurus G3C’s grip is easily accessible, and nothing obstructs the draw. I experienced no issues achieving quick 2-second draws. The retention mechanism doesn’t interfere with the draw.

Warranty & Returns: 5/5

Alien Gear offers a 30-day test drive for the holster, free shell trades for life, and a lifetime warranty. This provides excellent customer protection, which is among the best in the industry.

Keep In Mind

The ShapeShift system has a higher price compared to other holsters. It’s worth considering if you need multiple carry styles in one rig or if you plan on using the holster with different gun models. However, with the price of a ShapeShift system, you could opt for a premium holster of your choice (Hidden Hybrid, Tulster, Vedder), or even two good holsters like the We The People IWB and OWB options. The decision ultimately depends on whether the versatility is important to you.

Bottom Line Up Front

Tulster’s Profile IWB is a premium minimalist Kydex holster. It’s got same features as our #1 pick We The People, except for the adjustable ride height. This one’s more expensive, but you’re getting your money’s worth with (1) better quality control, (2) greater precision, sharper contouring lines & edges on the holster.

Features & The Nitty-Gritty

Holster Type: IWBCarry Type: Concealed Carry
Holster Material: Kydex Holster Fit: Custom Fit
Retention Type: Active Click RetentionHolster Adjustability: Cant, Retention
Light/Laser Compatible: YesRed Dot/Optics Compatible: Yes

Hand Orientation: ✅ Left & Right HandedWarranty: ✅ Lifetime

Looks, Feel & Durability: 5/5

From the 0.08″ Kydex to the metal hardware – everything feels smooth, well-designed, and has a small edge over cheaper holsters. You can notice the attention to detail in the contoured edges of the holster. Every line and millimeter has been carefully considered.

The sturdy plastic clip doesn’t bend and they offer metal clips as an extra option on their website. You also have color choices available.

Comfort: 4.5/5

The comfort is good, whether you’re sitting, standing, or walking. You can feel the presence of the holster, but it doesn’t bother you in any way. The rounded and buffed edges ensure there’s no digging or poking. The muzzle doesn’t protrude and feels comfortable against the thigh. No complaints here.

Retention: 5/5

The retention is excellent, with an audible click when you holster your gun. It passes our test – even when you turn the holster upside down, the gun stays securely in place. The retention is well-regulated out of the box and remains consistent over time. If you want to adjust it, there’s a retention screw available.

Safety & Protection: 5/5

The trigger guard and barrel are fully protected when your gun is holstered. There’s no way to access the trigger, and the kydex material maintains its shape. The Profile IWB holster features a full-sized sweat guard that safeguards your gun from corrosion. The clip’s tension is excellent, making it highly challenging to remove the entire rig from the belt during a struggle.

Ease Of Concealment: 5/5

Wearing jeans and a flannel shirt, I had no issues with printing or the holster showing. The design is streamlined, minimalist, and lightweight, ensuring easy concealment. For those planning to carry in the appendix position, I recommend getting the holster “sidekick” claw available for an additional price.

Ease Of Draw: 5/5

Drawing the gun in under 2 seconds is effortless. You can achieve a positive, ready-to-fire grip from any position. Although the ride height isn’t adjustable, the holster sits at a comfortable level that doesn’t hinder the ease of drawing. The retention doesn’t interfere with the draw either.

Adjustability & Customization Support: 3.5/5

The holster accommodates threaded barrels and suppressor-level sights. Tulster provides the most common optics cuts on their website. It loses some points in this category due to the unadjustable ride height.

Warranty & Returns: 5/5

Tulster offers a lifetime warranty on all their holsters. Additionally, they have a 30-day no-questions-asked returns policy.

Keep In Mind

The ride height is not adjustable. However, it sits at a comfortable level, so you won’t feel like you’re missing out. If adjustable ride height is a priority for you, I recommend considering the We The People IWB holster.

  • Good retention
  • Safety & trigger coverage
  • Strong paddle, built to last
  • Affordable
  • Fastest delivery times on the market

  • Sweat guard protrudes slightly above the holster, not really an issue

Bottom Line Up Front

Rounded Gear (Concealment Express) OWB Paddle holster is a simple and durable open carry holster that is custom-molded for Taurus G3C. We picked it over other OWB holsters on the market because of its value for money and simplicity. It’s a good pick if you’re looking for a good & simple open-carry holster that gets the job done.

Side note: Rounded Gear currently offers the fastest shipping in the Kydex holster industry.

Features & The Nitty-Gritty

Holster Type: OWBCarry Type: Open Carry
Holster Material: Kydex Holster Fit: Custom Fit
Retention Type: Active Click RetentionHolster Adjustability: Ride, Cant, Retention
Light/Laser Compatible: YesRed Dot/Optics Compatible: Yes

Looks, Feel & Durability: 5/5

The kydex shell is strong and well-made. The paddle is reinforced with fibers and feels solid. The clip/paddle is the most vulnerable part of a kydex holster, so it needs to be tough, and this one is. The holster has an open muzzle end for threaded barrels and supports suppressor-level sights. They also offer models with common optics/laser cuts. I have it in matte black, but they have different colors available on their website.

Comfort: 5/5

Comfort is a big plus with open carry. The holster is worn outside the waistband, reducing contact with your body. Once you get used to the weight, you’ll forget it’s there. It doesn’t limit your clothing choices, so you can wear tight pants or slim shirts if you prefer. If concealment isn’t a priority for you, this is easily the most comfortable holster on the list.

Retention: 5/5

Retention has always been excellent with Rounded Gear. The fit is snug, and the gun stays in place without rattling. You can turn the holster upside down without the gun falling out. When you holster the gun, there’s an audible click to let you know it’s secure. The retention is good out of the box, but you can adjust it with the tension screw.

Safety & Protection: 5/5

This holster provides good coverage and protection for the trigger. Your gun is well shielded when holstered, and the durable shell safeguards it from bumps and scratches. The strong plastic paddle ensures the holster stays securely on your belt, even in a scuffle. A full-size sweat guard protects your gun from corrosion.

Ease Of Concealment: 1/5

OWB holsters are not typically designed for concealed carry. However, you can cover it with a hoodie or untucked shirt if you want to use it for concealed carry. Just remember to be aware of the legal rules in your state, as it can be challenging to keep it concealed at all times. Be mindful of the potential legal consequences.

Ease Of Draw: 5/5

This holster allows for the fastest draw speed and easy access because it’s worn outside the waistband. Your draw speed will be consistent, and you can adjust the ride and cant to fit your body and drawing style.

Warranty & Returns: 5/5

Rounded Gear Holsters come with a lifetime warranty, and they offer a 30-day exchange and return policy.

Keep In Mind

The sweat guard slightly protrudes above the slide of the gun, which may not be an issue for most users, but it’s worth noting.

  • Kydex shell protecting the trigger
  • Pockets for phone & 2 clips
  • Anti-slip, anti-microbial band
  • Comfortable & easy to wear
  • Great for running, sitting, driving
  • Comfortable draw
  • Lifetime warranty

  • Better for smaller guns
  • Takes time to get used to
  • Can get sweaty in warmer states

Bottom Line Up Front

CrossBreed Modular Belly Band is one of the few belly band holsters with proper safety & protection features. Your Taurus G3C lives in a hybrid holster shell that is attached to the elastic belly band – giving you all the benefits of a belly band without the safety issues. In addition to safety, comfort features such as an anti-slip surface & adjustable ride/cant make CrossBreed’s Modular Belly Band stand out from the competition.

Features & The Nitty-Gritty

Holster Type: Belly BandCarry Type: Concealed Carry
Holster Material: Kydex & NeopreneHolster Fit: Custom Fit
Retention Type: Passive RetentionHolster Adjustability: Ride, Cant, Retention
Light/Laser Compatible: YesRed Dot/Optics Compatible:
Made In: ✅ AmericaSafety: ✅ Trigger & Barrel Protected
Hand Orientation: ✅ Left & Right HandedWarranty: ✅ 1 Year

Looks, Feel & Durability: 4/5

The hybrid kydex-leather shell connects to the band with a 3″ velcro strap. The velcro is strong and sticky. You wrap the band over the holster for added security. Everything stays snug. The durability is decent for a belly band, but the neoprene will wear out over time. It’s rated for 25 washes.

Comfort: 4/5

The band is easy to put on and comfortable in most situations. You can easily adjust and reposition it as needed. You won’t forget that it’s there, but it won’t poke, prod, or cause any discomfort while wearing it. The anti-slip surface keeps the band from moving around while you’re wearing it – it works well. The band is available in small (29-36 inches), medium (36-42 inches), and large (42-52 inches) sizes.

Safety & Protection: 5/5

The shell is solid and provides good protection for your gun. Both the trigger and barrel are covered, and the shell cannot be easily removed from the belly band when properly fastened. The safety and protection offered by this belly band holster are excellent and comparable to waistband holsters.

Ease Of Concealment: 4/5

Concealing with this rig is hassle-free. The band wrapping around the holster keeps it close to your body, making it ideal for deep concealment compared to other belly bands. The grip of a larger Taurus G3C may slightly protrude, but overall it works well. It would likely be even better with a smaller-sized gun.

Ease Of Draw: 5/5

Getting your hand inside the elastic waistband to establish a proper grip before drawing is easy. Pulling up your shirt does not hinder firearm access. The height and angle of the holster shell can be adjusted with velcro, allowing for customization if needed. Overall, drawing from this holster is simple and nothing obstructs your draw.

Warranty & Returns: 5/5

All CrossBreed holsters come with a lifetime warranty. There is a 30-day exchange & return policy.

Keep In Mind

  • During summer, sweating, heat can be a challenge, particularly in the southern states.
  • The belly band may ride up when you sit down since it lacks a clip to hold it in place like a waistband holster.

  • Tier 1 Concealed Xiphos V2 – T1C is another premium kydex holster maker and we only had space for one premium kydex pick in the list. They’re quite pricy, and not for everyone.
  • Dara Holsters – DARA is a well-known premium kydex holster manufacturer that we couldn’t include because of limited space in this review at this time.
  • Craft Holsters IWB Concealed – Their leather holsters are good, but not as good as WTP’s Independence.
  • Versacarry – Versacarry have different models both kydex and leather, but the lackluster trigger guard on some of them and a dubious reputation (them recommending you to carry your gun unloaded) make this brand difficult to recommend.
  • Sneaky Pete – Sneaky Pete makes small holster “boxes” or “bags” that you put your gun into. We’d recommend going with DeSantis over them.
  • Galco Gunleather – Probably the most well-known leather holster manufacturer on this side of the ocean. WTP independence and Hidden Hybrid are simply better for most people.
  • Urban Carry – Urban Carry G3 is a BWB – below the waistband – holster with the gun being located below your waistline. Slow & dangerous draw is the main reason why we can’t recommend it.
  • Boraii – Boraii makes minimalist kydex pocket holsters. Can’t recommend because of unnecessary printing.
  • JM4 Tactical – JM4 has done some innovations with their magnetic holsters, but we didn’t include them at this time because of controversial reviews.
  • Bravo Concealment – Known for affordable kydex OWB & IWB holsters, we can’t recommend them at this time because our research revealed durability issues on certain models.
  • Alien Gear ShapeShift Rig – It’s a good rig that does everything you want. We chose not to include it because you’ll get better value for your money going with individual holsters.

How To Choose A Good Taurus G3C Holster: Buyer’s Guide

To learn more about how we work and earn our living, read more about who we are or take a look at our editorial guidelines (work in progress!)

Why You Should Trust Us: We Know Holsters.

I have some knowledge and experience when it comes to guns and concealed carry. My buddies even call me “the holster guy.” I’ve been involved in the gun industry and community for about six years, and I’ve been carrying concealed for the past nine years.

I’ve taken multiple courses on advanced concealed carry, home defense, and advanced handgun techniques. I stay updated on the latest industry trends, including changes in laws and new gear releases.

Over the years, I’ve tried out around 50 different holsters with various firearms (that definitely added up in expenses!). I’ve also experimented with different clothing options, carry positions, and accessories, although not all of them worked out as expected.

Through my personal experiences, I’ve figured out what works for me and gained a good understanding of what generally works for others when it comes to open and concealed carry. I’m more than willing to share my insights and help you avoid the mistakes I’ve made along my journey through my writing for Looserounds.

How We Picked & Tested Holsters

Let’s see how we narrowed down our search for the best Taurus G3C holsters.

To begin with, we relied on (1) our own staff’s experience, as we already have knowledge about good holsters, and (2) we turned to trusted YouTube channels, online magazines, and Reddit concealed carry communities that keep up with the latest holster releases.

We focused on holsters made of hard plastic, hybrid designs, and occasionally considered full leather models that showed exceptional performance. We excluded full nylon designs, small of back holsters, and Blackhawk SERPA holsters. However, we included one belly band pick since many people are interested in that option.

The holsters we selected had to be custom-molded specifically for the Taurus G3C handgun, built to withstand the test of time, and provide the necessary safety features – most importantly trigger guard coverage.

After narrowing down our list, we were left with a total of 22 holsters.

For this review guide, I tested each of these holsters in my regular day-to-day activities. I wore them with different outfits, both at home and outside. I even drove to work with them and even worked out while wearing some of them.

Each Taurus G3C holster that we reviewed was carefully evaluated and rated based on factors such as comfort, safety, retention, ease of concealment, ease of draw, build quality and durability, customization and adjustability options, warranty, and price in terms of value for money.

Our Taurus G3C Holster Evaluation Criteria

Side note: We tried to write in an easy way, but if there’s still something that you find difficult to understand, here’s a quick list of holster terminology for beginners.

Holster Comfort

A good holster should be comfortable enough for you to almost forget that it’s there. If your holster doesn’t provide comfort, you’ll be tempted to leave it at home. And… it’s always better to have a handgun with you than to leave it in the gun safe.

To ensure comfort, I conducted thorough tests with the holsters. I sat with them for hours, drove long distances, went on runs, exercised, and even did grocery shopping. Most of the time, I wore jeans with a flannel or jeans shirt over them.

Since everyone’s body is different, I also had Dave from marketing try out the holsters. Dave is on the bigger side, weighing 240 pounds. If either of us experienced any significant comfort issues, we eliminated those holsters from the list.

Safety & Protection

The holster for your Taurus G3C should always cover the entire trigger, preventing accidental discharge. It should also be rigid, not allowing you to manipulate the trigger by pushing through the material. All the holsters we reviewed fulfill these requirements.

Since your Taurus G3C will spend most of its time in the holster, it’s important that the holster offers reliable protection against bumps, falls, dirt, and sweat. All the holsters we included in our review provide a secure and customized fit for the Taurus G3C, ensuring good coverage against these elements.

In our assessment of hybrid holsters, we paid close attention to preventing the leather backer from bending and sliding inside the kydex shell during rapid reholstering. We excluded fabric nylon holsters, Blackhawk SERPA holsters, and small of back holsters due to safety concerns. You can find more information on the reasons behind this decision in our post on holster safety.

Lastly, it’s crucial to consider the holster’s attachment system, particularly the clip. A weak clip can result in the entire holster falling off when you bend over to pick up your child or pet a dog – an experience I have personally encountered. Therefore, I thoroughly tested all the clips for durability and holding strength, ensuring that the holster remains securely attached to your belt.

Holster Retention

Retention simply refers to how well a holster holds your Taurus G3C. To test retention, we holster the gun and flip the holster upside down. If the gun stays in place, the holster passes the retention test. All the holsters on our list passed this test.

Having good retention is important because defensive situations can be unpredictable. You may encounter scenarios where you fall, run, crawl, bend over, or climb obstacles to evade danger. With reliable retention, even if you’re knocked over, your gun remains secure. Let’s look at the different levels of holster retention:

  • Level 1 – Passive Retention & “Click” Retention: This applies to concealed carry and relies on the friction between the holster and your gun. Most holsters allow you to adjust the tightness of passive retention. Kydex holsters offer a satisfying “click” when your gun is securely inserted.
  • Level 2, 3, and 4 – Duty Holster Retention: These holsters feature additional retention devices such as manual straps, covers, or thumb breaks for enhanced security. They are commonly used by police and law enforcement, hence the name “duty holsters.” While they may slightly slow down your draw speed, they provide added protection against someone using your gun against you.

Ease Of Concealment

A good concealed carry holster will be nearly invisible under your clothes. However, whether your gun is noticeable or not depends on factors like your body type, clothing, holster type, and daily activities. Baggy clothes can accommodate any holster, but for tighter outfits, a small IWB holster carried in the appendix position is the optimal choice.

To test concealability, we kept it simple. We observed how each holster appeared under a pair of jeans and a regular-fit flannel shirt. If a holster showed through this clothing combination (a.k.a. “printed“), it was eliminated.

If you’re considering appendix carry (AIWB), adding a holster claw can enhance concealment. Here’s a brief overview of the pros and cons of using a holster claw and when it’s most beneficial.

Ease Of Draw

The ideal holster for the Taurus G3C will allow for a seamless and effective draw, enabling you to obtain a proper grip on your firearm for immediate shooting from any position, using only one hand.

During our testing, I performed speed draws with all of the holsters and carefully observed if there were any obstacles that impeded my ability to swiftly retrieve my gun. However, it’s important to note that regardless of the quality of your holster, it is crucial to practice your speed draws and maintain focus on potential threats in order to ensure smooth and efficient performance.

Holster Materials

Hard plastic holsters like Kydex, Boltaron, or Polymer are the best pick for most Taurus G3C users. They’re tougher, more affordable, and offer customization options compared to leather and fabric holsters. These holsters are custom-molded to fit your gun and provide various features and adjustments. We thoroughly checked the Kydex thickness and clip quality of each hard holster included in our review.

Leather holsters are softer than plastic and conform to your body over time. A high-quality leather holster, made from thick leather, can be just as reliable as Kydex for the Taurus G3C, although they tend to be more expensive. It may take around 100-150 draws to fully break in a leather holster. However, a well-made and pricier leather holster will last you for many years.

Hybrid holsters combine two materials, typically a kydex shell for gun security and a leather backer for comfort. We carefully evaluated the kydex and leather thickness, hardware quality, and clip performance of the reviewed hybrid holsters to ensure their durability.

Full fabric holsters, usually made of nylon or polymer, are inexpensive options. However, we do not recommend them for the Taurus G3C or any other gun, except for pocket carry. These holsters may compromise trigger safety and often have poor retention.

For more information, refer to our Holster Materials 101 guide, designed to help beginners understand the different options available.

Holster Adjustability & Customization

Differences in body size, hand size, and personal preferences can make or break how well a holster works for you. Holster adjustability allows you to customize the cant (angle), ride height, and retention to suit your individual needs. That’s why we prioritized choosing adjustable models for our list. We also rated the manufacturers who have optics & laser cuts available higher in our scoring system.

Warranty & Returns

We only included holsters that are made in the USA with a lifetime warranty in our list. Fortunately, most companies fit the bill these days. Most also offer 30-day no-questions-asked returns.

Price & Value For Money

We tried to keep our picks at a manageable price point – most land somewhere between $50 and $150 — and offer different types of carry. As a rough rule of thumb, I don’t recommend holsters cheaper than $50 for Taurus G3C or any other gun. All premium-priced holsters included in the list had to justify their premium price (and they did).

Overview Of Different Holster Types Suitable For Taurus G3C

IWB/AIWB (Inside The Waistband / Appendix) Holsters are a great pick for concealing your Taurus G3C. You can carry them strong side (4 o’clock) or appendix (1 o’clock). These holsters are reliable, easy to hide, lightweight, and provide quick access. Check out the pros and cons of IWB vs AIWB carry for more information.

OWB (Outside The Waistband) Holsters are worn on the outside of the waistband, either on your belt or between the belt and your body. They are commonly used for open carry, but can also be concealed under a long shirt or jacket. OWB holsters offer better durability with thicker materials and enable faster draws with your Taurus G3C. Belt, paddle, and pancake holsters are different types to consider. For pros & cons, see our iwb vs owb holsters guide.

A belly band holster is a wide neoprene belt that wraps around your body, providing a way to secure your Taurus G3C. It works well in certain situations like running, gym workouts, or when a belt carry is not possible. It’s also suitable if you have a specific work uniform that doesn’t allow easy IWB carry.

Shoulder holsters, typically made of leather, can be challenging to set up correctly and are not the best concealed carry option for most people with the Taurus G3C. That’s why we have not included a shoulder holster for the Taurus G3C at this time.

Chest holsters are worn on your chest instead of under your shoulder. They are easier to set up than shoulder holsters but more challenging to conceal. They provide convenient access to your gun without obstructing movement, such as during motorcycle rides or hikes.

Thigh/Drop Leg Holsters are open carry holsters where the Taurus G3C is attached to your thigh. They provide easy access and good draw speed while moving the weight of the gun away from your waist to your thigh. These holsters are commonly preferred by law enforcement and the military.

Ankle holsters are not recommended for the Taurus G3C due to its size. They work better for carrying smaller backup guns if needed. However, ankle holsters have drawbacks, including slow draw speed, limitations on drawing while moving, concerns with dust and dirt, and the need to wear long pants at all times.

Taurus G3C Concealed Carry Tips

Concealed carry is not easy.

You will need an adjustment period unless you want your license to get revoked for some stupid stuff.

You’ll need to:

  • Review the clothing that you wear day-to-day
  • Find a holster that works for you and your lifestyle (IWB for most)
  • Pick a concealed carry position that works for you (usually IWB or AIWB)
  • Get used to having your gun on you in public places
  • Review the activities you do while carrying

Note: Here’s a short list of F.A.Q.s to give you the rundown on concealed carry, written by Uncle Sam. And here’s a quick concealed carry tips list from us.

Then there’s practice. To use your gun effectively when the need arises. That includes:

  • Regular maintenance of your gun and ammunition. Many folks carry the same magazine for 2 years, not realizing that primers and powder are susceptible to extreme heat, cold, and moisture. Changing carry ammo every 6 months is a good rule of thumb.
  • Proper grip while drawing
  • Practicing basic extraction and reholstering
  • One-shot drills
  • Accuracy practice
  • Speed draws
  • Threat focusing

Is Taurus G3C Good For Concealed Carry?

Taurus G2C, G3C, G2, and G3 are all popular concealed carry handguns and generally have a good reputation in the firearms community. They are all compact and reliable, with good accuracy and a comfortable grip.

Here’s a quick comparison between different models, including general pros and cons of each:

  • Taurus G2C: This is a popular budget option for concealed carry. It has a 12+1 capacity, a lightweight frame, and a low profile for easy concealment. Some users have reported reliability issues, but others have had no problems.
  • Taurus G3C: This is a newer model that is an upgrade to the G2C. It has a 12+1 capacity, improved ergonomics, and a more durable slide. It is generally considered a reliable and affordable option for concealed carry.
  • Taurus G2: This is another budget-friendly option that is slightly larger than the G2C. It has a 12+1 capacity and a slightly longer barrel for improved accuracy. It is also known for being reliable and easy to shoot.
  • Taurus G3: This is a larger and more full-featured option that is still suitable for concealed carry. It has a 15+1 capacity, improved ergonomics, and a longer barrel for improved accuracy. It is generally considered a reliable and accurate handgun.

Overall, the Taurus G2C, G3C, G2, and G3 are all good options for concealed carry, with varying pros and cons depending on your needs and preferences. It is important to handle and shoot each model to determine which one is the best fit for you.

What Are A Holster’s Ride & Cant? Which Cant Is Best?

Holster ride height cant chart

The holster’s cant is the holster’s angle. There are 3 main holster cants/angles that you should know about:

  1. Neutral Cant: The top of the holster is directly above the bottom of the holster. This cant is great for carrying on the side of your hip and on your strong side. Drawing from this position is a natural movement and is comfortable.
  2. Positive/Forward Cant (also known as the FBI cant): The grip of the holster is angled forward. This is best used on your strong side, usually in the 4 o’clock or kidney position.
  3. Negative/Reverse Cant: The grip of the holster is angled backward. This position makes gripping your gun easier when carrying cross-draw or appendix. The grip will be shifted toward your hand for easier drawing.

Holsters’ ride is the holster’s height.

  • A higher ride will usually give you a faster draw. The downside is that it potentially compromises on comfort & concealment.
  • A lower ride can be better for concealment and comfort. Especially with appendix carry.
