There are downsides that we&#8217;ll cover below.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The shell attaches to the band via a strong &amp; sticky 3\u201d velcro strap. The band wraps around the shell, keeping it closer to your body. <strong>The shell is well-made \u2013 good trigger coverage, and it stays put to the velcro band.<\/strong> Not upside-down tight, but good enough.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>I found the band easy to put on and comfortable in most situations.<\/strong> It\u2019s also easy to adjust &amp; reposition on the go. You won\u2019t forget that you\u2019re wearing it, but other than that it\u2019s pretty comfortable.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The anti-slip surface works as it should and keeps the band from moving around sideways while I\u2019m wearing it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The band comes in all sizes from small to XL (29-52 inches waist).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You&#8217;ll have no trouble concealing while wearing this rig. The band wrapping around the holster keeps it closer to the body. This makes it better for deep concealment than most other belly bands. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We mainly recommend it for smaller frames \u2013 the grip on bigger guns is going to push out more, compromising your concealment.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The draw is good, once you get used to it. It\u2019s easy to get my hand inside the elastic waistband to establish a proper grip before drawing. But sometimes, you can\u2019t carry any other way.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s what we liked about DeSantis Nemesis, and why it made the cut.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>The holster covers the trigger fully, but for obvious reasons, it\u2019s not as safe or secure as a waistband holster.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Doesn&#8217;t need a belt.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The fabric on the outside is a little rubbery and grips the pocket walls really well. It keeps the holster from moving around in your pocket. The fabric on the inside is made out of slick fabric, giving you minimal friction on the draw.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The \u201cwing\u201d that you can see under the barrel keeps the holster from coming out with your gun when you draw. It grips the side of the pocket when you draw your gun.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Overall, the holster is comfortable with smaller, lighter frames.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Nemesis does a good job of covering up the gun\u2019s shape under the clothing. Concealment will depend on your clothes. I\u2019ve tested it with jeans pockets (slight printing) and jacket pockets (no obvious printing, just shows that you have something in your pocket).&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One of the less obvious upsides is that you can draw more discreetly. You pull the suede buckle through the midsection of your bra, and the holster stays \u201changing\u201d underneath your bra.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The holster goes <em>under<\/em> the bra, so it\u2019s partially covered by it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We can recommend it <em>only<\/em> if:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Normal IWB holsters don\u2019t work for you<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You\u2019re carrying a smaller gun<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It conceals well as long as you wear a baggier top \u2013 a sweatshirt or a sweater.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The draw can be quick, but it\u2019ll take some practice. It&#8217;s slower than a waistband holster, especially if you have a jacket on in addition to your sweater. You\u2019ll have to lift all of your top layers to access the Flashbang. Reholstering is not natural and will take practice as well.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The retention is also good \u2013 the gun doesn\u2019t budge or fall out of the holster.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Keep In Mind<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ve found that the holster is <strong>more comfortable on larger cup sizes, and longer torsos (i.e. taller women)<\/strong>. If you\u2019re short and have a smaller cup size, it\u2019s probably going to be uncomfortable.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019re limited to smaller guns when it comes to both concealment and comfort.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The holster covers the back of the gun completely. Because of that, it\u2019s a little more difficult to get a full positive grip while drawing. As an option, you can cut away a part of the holster (it\u2019s easy to do, just plastic) to expose the back of the slide.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Overall, it\u2019s difficult to recommend The Flashbang. Unfortunately, we couldn&#8217;t include them in this review due to limited space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.craftholsters.com\/leather-iwb-concealed-holster\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Craft Holsters&#8217;<\/a> IWB Concealed leather holsters are decent, but not as good as WTP&#8217;s Independence. Since we only had one spot for a leather holster on our list, we opted for the superior option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/versacarry.com\/inside-the-waistband\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Versacarry<\/a> offers both kydex and leather holsters, but some of their models have lackluster trigger guards and a questionable reputation (they suggest carrying your gun unloaded). These factors make it difficult for us to recommend this brand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sneakypeteholsters.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sneaky Pete<\/a> manufactures small holster &#8220;boxes&#8221; or &#8220;bags&#8221; where you store your gun. However, they can&#8217;t match the draw speed, convenience, and concealability of IWB holsters, which is why we didn&#8217;t include them on this list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.galcogunleather.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Galco Gunleather<\/a> is perhaps the most well-known leather holster manufacturer on this side of the ocean. Nonetheless, WTP Independence and Hidden Hybrid are simply better options for most people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/urbancarryholsters.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Urban Carry&#8217;s G3<\/a> is a below the waistband (BWB) holster, with the gun positioned below your waistline. Its slow and potentially dangerous draw is the main reason why we can&#8217;t recommend it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.boraii.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Boraii<\/a> produces minimalist kydex pocket holsters. Unfortunately, they tend to print due to their unconventional design. This actually makes your gun appear larger instead of maintaining its original shape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jm4tactical.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">JM4 Tactical<\/a> has introduced some innovative magnetic holsters. We included one belly band pick because many folks are looking for those.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We excluded full nylon designs, small of back holsters, and Blackhawk SERPA holsters for safety issues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The initial selection was done:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Using our personal experience (we already know many good holsters)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consulting with instructors and experts in the firearms industry<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Researching trusted YouTube channels, magazines, and concealed carry communities to make sure we didn&#8217;t miss anything<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>With that list narrowed down, we were left with 26 holsters to test.<\/strong> Below are the criteria that we used to test each one of these holsters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Our_Concealed_Carry_Holster_Evaluation_Criteria_What_To_Look_For\"><\/span>Our Concealed Carry Holster Evaluation Criteria: What To Look For<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Holster Comfort<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A good holster is comfortable enough that you can wear it for hours and almost forget it\u2019s there. <\/strong>If your holster is not comfortable, you\u2019ll be tempted to leave the entire rig at home. Defeating the entire point of concealed carry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/looserounds.com\/holster-comfort\/\">Our holster comfort testing<\/a> included sitting with the holsters at the desk for hours, driving, going on runs and exercising, going for groceries, etc. wearing the same clothing that we usually wear \u2013 jeans with a flannel shirt, or similar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We also tested holster comfort on different body types. In addition to wearing them myself (six foot three, average build), I let Dave from marketing have a quick go with them as well. Dave\u2019s on the bigger side at 240 pounds. If either me or Dave found any significant comfort issues with a holster \u2013 we scrapped it from the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Holster Safety &amp; Protection<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In a nutshell, a <a href=\"https:\/\/looserounds.com\/holster-safety-rules\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"817\">safe holster<\/a> will<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Cover your gun&#8217;s entire trigger at all times to prevent accidental discharge<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be rigid, so nothing can push through the material and manipulate the trigger<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Protect your gun from bumps, falls, dirt, and sweat<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For leather &amp; hybrid holsters, there&#8217;s one additional rule: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>The leather should be thick, and well cut. It should be impossible for the leather backer to bend &amp; jam inside the holster shell, thereby compromising the trigger.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Final point about safety &#8211; you should avoid the following holster types: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Nylon and fabric holsters<\/strong> can be dangerous, because usually the trigger is not protected well. We don&#8217;t recommend them unless you need a pocket holster.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Blackhawk SERPA holsters<\/strong> are notorious for accidental discharges, in addition to having a shabby build quality. It&#8217;s so bad that The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center <a href=\"https:\/\/portal.ct.gov\/-\/media\/DESPP\/SLFU\/Training-Bulletin-202207-Blackhawk-SERPA-Holster.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">has banned them<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Small of back holsters<\/strong> have a high back injury risk in case you fall on it, as well as a slow, dangerous draw that might sweep bystanders if you&#8217;re not careful.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Holster Retention<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Your <a href=\"https:\/\/looserounds.com\/holster-retention\/\">holster&#8217;s retention<\/a> is simply its ability to hold on to your gun. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The base test for retention is holstering your gun and flipping the holster upside down. If the gun falls out &#8211; the holster has failed the retention test.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Good retention is important because defensive situations are dynamic. You might fall, run, crawl, bend over, or climb a fence to evade danger. With good retention, even if you get knocked over, your gun stays safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As for the <a href=\"https:\/\/looserounds.com\/holster-retention-levels\/\">levels of retention<\/a>, here&#8217;s all you need to know:  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Level 1: Passive Retention &amp; &#8220;Click&#8221; Retention:<\/strong> This applies to concealed carry, and is the friction between the holster and your gun. The tightness of passive retention is adjustable on most holsters. On kydex holsters, it&#8217;s the \u201cclick\u201d that comes from the holster shape snapping in place when your gun is inserted. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Level 2, 3, 4: Duty Holster Retention:<\/strong> These holsters that come with retention devices, such as manual straps, covers, and thumb breaks that you have to undo before drawing your gun. These holsters are mainly used by police and law enforcement, which is why they\u2019re also called <a href=\"https:\/\/tacworldholsters.com\/duty-holster\/duty-holster-need\/#:~:text=A%20duty%20holster%20can%20be,to%20carry%20your%20gun%20regularly.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">duty holsters<\/a>. They slow your draw speed, but also keep someone from using your gun against you.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Holster Ease Of Concealment<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A good concealed carry holster should practically disappear under your clothing.<\/strong> When testing for ease of concealment, we monitored the <a href=\"https:\/\/looserounds.com\/holster-printing\/\">printing (showing)<\/a> of each holster under a pair of jeans, and a plain regular-fit flannel shirt. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That being said &#8211; whether your gun prints or not will depend on your body type, clothes, holster type, and the activities that you do during your day. Anything works with baggy clothes. For tighter clothes, a minimal IWB holster carried in the appendix (AIWB) position is probably your best bet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re considering AIWB (appendix-inside-waistband) carry, consider getting a holster claw for deeper concealment. Usually, it\u2019s a kydex shell to safely house your gun and a leather backer for comfort. If a hybrid holster is built well, it performs just as good as a full Kydex model, while being more comfortable to wear.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Full leather holsters<\/strong> are softer to wear and shape themselves to your body with time. A good leather holster \u2013 made out of thick leather \u2013 can be just as good as kydex for concealed carry. The downsides of leather holsters include: price; not being waterproof; less adjustable &amp; customizable; no click retention; more maintenance and cleaning. Because of the above, we don\u2019t recommend them if you\u2019re just starting out on your concealed carrying journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Full fabric holsters<\/strong> are made out of nylon or polymer. They\u2019re cheap, but unless you\u2019re going for pocket carry, we don\u2019t recommend them. If the clip is weak, your entire holster will fall off when you bend to pick up your kid or pet a dog.
