Makes sense. Reply nickle plated according to Karl Reply S&W has been nickel plating revolvers since a long, long time ago. Nickel plating was one of the first corrosion-resistant finishes Colt and S&W put on their handguns starting back in the 1870’s. It was more popular where people were near salt water or for people who were carrying their guns in weather. S&W’s first stainless revolver came along in 1965, and the first one was the S&W Model 60.
