In 1970 Colt marketed a pair of World War II commemorative pistols. One pistol commemorated the European theater and the second pistol commemorated the Pacific theater.

In an effort to provide added benefit to the purchase of one of the World War II commemorative pistols, Colt commissioned a special publication of a book titled ‘The American Heritage Picture History of World War II’ authored by C.L. Sulzberger. This book was first published in 1966 and contained 640 pages. The special edition published for Colt contained some additional, never seen before photographs. This revised book was titled ‘Colt’s Commemorative Edition of The American Heritage Picture History of World War II’ and had a unique dust jacket.

To promote the commemorative pistol and book sets, Colt sent out a sales kit/press kit to Colt dealers to help them create interest in the offerings.

The attention getter in the press kit is a promotional example of the Colt’s Commemorative Edition book dust cover. It is the same size of the published book but when the book cover is opened up, it has promotional information in it for a prospective customer to read and review to stir interest in buying a pistol/book set.

Overall, the documents are in pretty good shape for 50 year-old documents. This is yet another neat, unique document set added to my Colt paper collection.
