Philippines Black Market Shotgun

Another oddball for you. This is a bolt action 12 gauge shotgun. Made in the Philippines at one of the many black market guns shops there.

It doesn’t look like something I would want to try to fire.

  1. I’d rather deal with a short-barreled shotgun as an improvised arm before I’d trust a handgun or rifle round.

Shotgun loads have far lower pressures – typically 9K to 11K PSI.

Most handgun rounds start at about 17K PSI (for the really old rounds, like .38 Special, .45 Colt, etc) and go up to nearly 40K PSI (hot 10mm) and higher for the cannon rounds for big revolvers.

Rifle rounds start at about 47K PSI (7×57) and go into the 65K PSI range (modern magnums).

An improvised shotgun will hold together much better than an improvised handgun or rifle.
