One of the Special Forces vets on my SOG members group shared his knife pictures with me last night. He has had these two original Gerber MK II combat knives for a very long time.
No, that blade is no not bent. It was made that way on purpose. The idea being it would lay against the hip closer and more comfy with that cant. A common myth was it was made that way to better slip between rib bones.
A cool little tidbit of info on these knives. The gray area has a cat’s tongue texture. It was made by spraying the grips with molten droplets of aluminum to get the texture. I have a gerber MKII myself from the early 80s. Not as valuable or rare but still not easy to find.
