One of the fellas in the Model 70 group showed this ultra rare prototype and shared some info on it. Even I didn’t know these existed.
Winchester Model 70 .22lr target rifle. Here’s something that you don’t see every day. I am planning to sell this rifle soon, so I wanted to post pictures for you to enjoy. The original owner was a small bore target shooter who worked for Raytheon Corporation in the ‘40s. This rifle was an experimental piece from Winchester. Since it was never offered as a Winchester product, there are no brand markings or labels. This rifle was never given a serial number, but instead, a project number was engraved on the receiver. For fun, I slapped a scope on it and shot a few groups. I am an average shooter but the 50 yard group speaks very well for the rifle!
