Welding on 7075 aluminum seems like it went well… until you put some real stress on it. Then you start to learn about “phase segregation” and micro-cracking as a result – much like the precipitation hardening zones on either side of a weld in cast iron.
This is why welding companies do not supply an aluminum filler metal for 7075.
