Not the murderous gator pictured above.
The woman killed by an alligator in a South Carolina pond had just finished doing the homeowner’s nails and tried to touch the reptile before the attack, authorities said.
Cynthia Covert, 58, died Friday after venturing waist deep in a pond on Kiawah Island — a gated community outside of Charleston — to encounter the gator.
What would cause such stupid behavior?
Covert brought a glass of wine to the house the night of the attack and was acting less professional than normal, the homeowners told deputies.
Asked and answered.
When Covert saw the alligator, she took pictures of it before going off into the pond.
The homeowners pleaded with Covert to keep away from the alligator, telling her it ate a deer days earlier.
“I don’t look like a deer,” Covert responded, according to a police report, before trying to touch the gator. What can I even add to that?
Covert fell into the water at some point. When she resurfaced, the homeowners tossed her a rope, which she grabbed ahold of.
“I guess I won’t do this again,” Covert said, according to the report.
No. You won’t.
But moments later that alligator struck, dragging her underwater. Covert died of drowning, the Charleston County Coroner’s Office said.
Guess she won’t do that again.
I’m no medical examiner but might I submit to you that the woman did not die of drowning but instead died of terminal stupidity?
A deputy who responded shot the alligator in the head.
Good kill, because once a gator gets the taste of human meat.. Nice to see the cops can hit other animals besides dogs though.
