A now former Winston-Salem police officer is being charged with sexual battery.
Authorities say on February 20, Patrol Officer Harry L. White III responded to a call for service at the Best Western Plus University Inn, located on the 3000 block of University Parkway.
Approximately four minutes after White cleared the scene of the call for service, the Winston-Salem Police Department was notified of an allegation by an adult female who encountered White during the earlier call for service.
The adult female alleged that she was sexually assaulted by White during the call for police service at the hotel.
Police say field commanders immediately responded to the hotel and secured the scene.
“The responsibility for the investigation into the allegation of criminal conduct against White was assumed by detectives in the Special Victim’s Unit of the Winston-Salem Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division. White was placed on administrative leave and the criminal investigation has been on-going and active since February 20, 2020,” a press release said.
Monday, detectives charged White with sexual battery. White was taken into custody at the Forsyth County Detention Center without incident.
No bad words this time. It seems the King’s Men responded quickly and got this guy in cuffs pretty quickly. An earnest and honest “Might fine police work ” for the department on this one.
