AR15.com To Replace NRA?

I know we don’t usually do a lot of internet gun forum gossip and news but these recent events are significant. Especially in light of the ongoing meltdown and self destruction of the now nearly useless and toothless NRA. This could just be pandering by the boys at Brownells to make a sell out more palatable to the thirsty for real action , non-fudd gun community or it could be the start of something that could replace the NRA with newer blood that knows the RKBA isn’t about your Pappy’s duck gun.

From Jim Shepherd at shooting wire:

Pete Brownell tells The Outdoor Wire Digital Network it will become the “backbone” of what he envisions as a communications outlet for the Second Amendment.

It’s already a significant presence with shooters, boasting a user group of more than five million.

According to former owners, Eduard, Juan and Jorge Avila, the decision to sell to 2nd Adventure was their realization that, after 23 years, the Brownells and their group made most sense. Like the Avilas, they say, the Brownells “see the importance, now more than ever, for having a free, unfiltered forum for pro-Constitutional voices and ideas to be heard.”

We’re told there are “big things ahead” and with a growing void in the pro-Second Amendment universe, it makes sense that a group with business acumen and a deep respect for the Second Amendment move both the idea- and the backbone- forward.

As always, we’ll keep you posted.

Hmmm. I’m skeptical. Though something does need to get done. Link to original report below ( I already gave you the only part that matter as far as this topic goes ) as well as ARFCOM thread discussing it.

As always, we’ll keep you posted.

  1. happy with NRA or not, it has a lot of clout, especially with our enemies- so, let’s fix it! not to say the other defenders of our right to self-defense are not working, but we need the big gun to stay in the fight.

    • yeah I don’t think I can agree. that “lot of clout with our enemies ” isn’t a reflection of the current state. trump de-fanged the NRA during his little tet-a-tet with Di-Fi a couple years ago and their total uselessness with bumpstock and recent major losses in FL.

      • The bump stock thing was a major unforced error on the part of both the NRA and Trump, but Trump was baiting DiFi to pass gun control legislation, and she hasn’t. Why not? NRA.

  2. I am as pissed as anyone at how the NRA has performed in the last 4 or so years.

But if the NRA goes under, there is going to be a massive, gaping hole in our lines.

Joe Sixpack has never heard of Arfcom by any name. Or GOA for that matter, or anything else. Joe Sixpack has a very clear understanding of what the NRA is.

Joe Legislator (at either state or federal level) has never heard of Arfcom. He may have heard of GOA or some others but probably cares very little about them. How many legislators would pick up the phone if the NRA were calling? It’s got to be over 10% nationwide. How many would take a meeting with the NRA if someone were to call the staff to set one up? It’s got to be on the order of 50%, maybe closer to 70%.

    That’s clout, and it matters.

Bet on this: if NRA keeps screwing it up by the numbers and membership collapses, or if the New York State Board of Whatever puts them into receivership or something, then bet on a big gun control package getting through at the federal level.

It will take at least one election cycle to prove the power of a new gun lobby in the wake of an NRA collapse. Our enemies smell the blood in the water at this point, and they are going to start pushing hard over the next 2-4 years.
