My Suggestions / Upgrades on your Carry Glock 43

The single stack 9mm market is huge. The Smith & Wesson’s Shield and the new Glock 43 are dominating that market. One great thing about Glock’s is the fact that just about everyone makes parts and accessories for them. The aftermarket accessories and parts are plentiful, and easy to install. So now you have your G43, you have run ample carry ammo through it and it is ready for carry. What are the must haves for your G43.  Let’s keep this simple and pick the three (3) absolute must haves for your Every Day Carry (EDC) G43.

(1) High Quality Holster

(2) Sights

(3) + Mag Extension / Base Pad

These (3) additions in my opinion, are a must have. Other parts and accessories are also nice to have but these (3) need to be addressed first. There are so many holster, sites and mag extension /base pads options on the market, I can’t go through all of them. That is a good thing for you, as you can pick your particular preference of the features.

Here are my top manufacturer choices, because of price, quality and function. If you pick these particular (3) you will have a damn good combination on your G43 and they will give you an advantage. If you pick three others that give you the same quality and function then do it. I would say the +1 Base Pads I picked are the top of the tier, in my opinion.

(1) Dark Star Gear IWB/AIWB Clip-on Holster:

For defensive carry, you must have a high quality holster. If you have followed us, you know DSG is one of our favorites. They don’t have a banner on our page for nothing. For the G43 I would highly suggest the DSG Clip-on Holster. Very high quality, smooth, fast and easy to use.  The metal clip really shines on this holster. It has a reverse hook under the clip, that hooks under your belt, preventing the clip from pulling off when you tug up on the holster or draw your firearm. DSG’s finishing, quality and longevity of use has been underpasses compared to other kydex holster I have used. For those of you that are on a very tight budget, who need a quality, functional kydex holster, I would also point you in the direction of Kinetic Concepts Tactical (KCT).

(2) Ameriglo Spartan Sights:

No matter what Glock you get, you have to replace the plastic sights and the G43 is no different. I really like Ameriglo sights, more than any other sight for Glocks.  The amount of options, the low price point and high quality, really gives you the best bang for the buck on sights. The G43 Spartan sights are great on the G43. You get (3) tritium dot sights to help in low light and an Orange High Visibility front sight for rapid daytime target placement. Also during the day, the rear sight is blacked out, focusing your attention on the front sight.  This is exactly what you want on a close range CCW weapon.

(3) Taran Tactical +1 Base Pad

An extra round or two in the G43 package or any firearm is never going to be a bad thing. As far as endplates/Base Pad’s go, you cannot get any better than Taran Tactical. Yes, you are going to pay for them but they are well worth it. I feel the +1 round Taran Tactical plates are the way to go. Taran Tactical Base Pads are CNC machined from billet aluminum. They are about 1/2  thicker than the stock plastic endplate. They give you just enough extra grip length to help manage recoil and keep the package as small as it was intended. For me the +2 are just too big for the concept on the G43. With two (2) G43 magazines and Taran Tactical +1 Base Pads, you have 14 +1 capacity with the G43. That is equivalent to a G19.

Final Thought:

There are several other accessories to add to the G43’s performance and go very nicely with it, (i.e. Vickers Magazine Release and Slide Stop) as well as other accessories. The Slide Stop is not as important to me as the Magazine Release. The Magazine Release has much more of a function/improvement in handling than the Slide Stop. On a small firearm like this or any other really, I suggest the sling shot method over using the Slide Stop as a release.

I feel you cannot go wrong with the (3) I have pointed out here.  #1 and #2 are basically mandatory, #3 and some extras gets you on the way to having one badass CCW handgun.

  1. Gimme a 26 – 10+1 and the option of 15+1 or 17+1 or 33+1
For a SLIGHT narrowing of the grip it is not worth giving up the magazine capacity and the flexibility of increased magazine capacity.
But the 43 SURE MAKES GUN CONTROL POLITICIANS HAPPY!
    Won’t be long now – G17 G19 G26 – LAW ENFORCEMENT ONLY
G43 citizen allowed 9mm – WILL NOT ACCEPT FULL CAPACITY SERVICE MAGAZINES!
